The disappeared by Sibel Hodge was a very quick read for me. When I started it, I didn’t want to put it down.

It was good.

It had loads of short little action-packed chapters, which I love. And it was well written with a good pace.

I went into it assuming it might be the usual run of the mill domestic psychological thriller (a genre which is my favourite – at least for now), but it took an unexpected twist. And the story really grabbed my attention.

For me The disappeared by Sibel Hodge stood out.

I read quite a bit (although I wish it could be more) so often books start to blur into each other, especially if I have read quite a few with a similar theme or in the same genre. But I am sure the story of The disappeared by Sibel Hodge will stick with me for quite some time.

The plot deals with some very unsettling themes and has spiked my interested in finding out a bit more about something that I would never have thought would/should be allowed to happen. I didn’t realise at the time but the story is somewhat based on real life events – for more information see the authors note at the end of the book.

The novel read like it was very well researched, but I don’t want to reveal too much because of spoilers. But my heart was breaking at points…. If you haven’t already you should consider picking it up to read.

As a side note. I really liked the main character – Nicole. She was determined and threw herself into danger for all the right reasons even if it wasn’t the smartest move.

I will be reading more by Sibel Hodge in the future.

Overall – The disappeared by Sibel Hodge was a good, fast read and one that won’t be easily forgotten.
