Game of Thrones is finally back! And I’m finally catching up. YAY 8.1 #Winterfell

I was nearly a week late in finally finding some time to sit down with my hubby, dog and massive cup of tea to watch the first episode of Game of Thrones.

It was good.

It was very good.

It was very, very good.

I can’t wait for Episode 2! And because I’m late to the party I don’t have to wait for long.

And I now have a different tune stuck in my head – goodbye Baby shark doo-doo-doo and Hello to a much more fun type of doo, do, doo, dooing.

Before you read the post below – Beware there is SPOILERS for episode 1

SPOILERS

SPOILERS

Consider yourself warned – the post below contains SPOILERS

Episode 1 opens with a fantastic cinematic scene of Daenerys and Jon arriving in Winterfell.  I’m not sure they could have picked a better moment to open with. And all that tension between pretty much everyone. Made for great viewing.

I loved all the reunions – Sansa and Tyrion, Jon and Arya, Sam and Jon, Bran and Jon, Yara and Theon. And Jamie and Bran!

It is nice to see the characters are starting to unite and the stories are becoming more intertwined than the main characters all being separate and spread over the seven kingdoms and even further afield. It was also great that they didn’t drag anything out.

I loved the wee moment right at the beginning between Sansa and Dany…

“What do Dragons eat anyway?” Sansa

“Whatever they want” Dany.

And I loved every scene between Jon and Daenerys – And the dragon scene – Wow. Did anyone else get goose bumps?

And what is Jon going to do with the information about his birth right? And how will Dany react? She’s not going to relinquish any control, but I doubt her dragons will burn Jon.

And Sam, I felt his pain. Sam is one of my favourite characters. My heart hurt for him. And it was one of the few moments that Dany wasn’t also one of my favourite characters.

Only Cersai would say β€˜good’ to the dead breaking through the wall. And I enjoyed her scenes with Euron – “You want a whore buy one, you want a queen earn her…”

Se is very much the villain queen now. I am not sure much will redeem her, but then I think with the loss of her children she is entitled to have gone a bit mad.

Creepy ending scene with the weird symbol made from body parts – I am sure that isn’t a good sign of things to come.

There wasn’t a moment I didn’t like, and I can’t wait until Episode 2.

So good!

  1. OMG! The second episode is even better than the first one and I am super jealous with you right now because my husband is re-watching from the beginning and refuses to listen to all my pleas of watching season 8 together!

I am so close to spoiling it for him!!

    1. There is no way I wouldn’t let a spoiler drop of my husband was doing that πŸ˜€

I’m really looking forward to Episode 3 – I imagine it’s going to be rather Epic!
