The Controller by Matt Brolly was action packed from the very beginning. It was one of those books that fits the often overused term – a roller coaster of a read. The book didn’t stop, well until it stopped – but you know what I mean? Right!?
However, it wasn’t quite my cup of tea or maybe I just read it when I wasn’t in the mood for a violent, at times gory, blockbuster of a story.
It was well written.
Plenty of twist and turns.
It was just all a bit too much for me. I didn’t not enjoy it, but I could have easily put it aside at several points. It didn’t get better for me, it just got more flamboyant.
I liked some of the characters and I liked that Lynch lived his life in the grey areas. Rose, I liked a bit less and I felt that at times it was quite obvious that a man had written the female character.
Don’t let my review put you off as I said this is a fast-moving blockbuster of a thriller, it reminded me a little of the Jack Reacher books. And I am sure it will have an audience. It was cinematic.
Would I read more from Matt Brolly in the future? Yes. Probably.
I received a copy of The Controller by Matt Brolly from the publisher via Emma the blog tour organiser – Thank you.
