Can’t wait Wednesday #books #AmWaiting #Recursion @blakecrouch1

This week I want to feature…

Recursion by Blake Crouch – due to be published on the 13th June 2019, so tomorrow!

I didn’t even know Blake Crouch had another book out so soon for release, until I saw the beautiful cover design pop up on some of the #20BooksOfSummer reading challenge posts. So thank you fellow book bloggers.

I love Blake Crouch.

I very much enjoyed his last book – Dark Matter, which i reviewed earlier this year and you can find the review HERE if you are interested.

And then I was even more excited when I read…

A breathtaking exploration of memory and what it means to be human, Recursion is the follow-up novel to the smash-hit thriller, Dark Matter, by Blake Crouch.

A follow up to Dark Matter! A Follow up to the book I LOVED! YAY!

In fact, the whole synopsis sounds amazing. Amazing. See for yourself below.

Book blurb:

What if someone could rewrite your entire life?

‘My son has been erased.’

Those are the last words the woman tells Barry Sutton before she leaps from the Manhattan rooftop.

Deeply unnerved, Barry begins to investigate her death only to learn that this wasn’t an isolated case. All across the country, people are waking up to lives different from the ones they fell asleep to. Are they suffering from False Memory Syndrome, a mysterious, new disease that afflicts people with vivid memories of a life they never lived? Or is something far more sinister behind the fracturing of reality all around him?

Miles away, neuroscientist Helena Smith is developing a technology that allows us to preserve our most intense memories and relive them. If she succeeds, anyone will be able to re-experience a first kiss or the birth of a child.

Barry’s search for the truth leads him on an impossible, astonishing journey as he discovers that Helena’s work has yielded a terrifying gift . . .

It sounds GREAT, doesn’t it? Well apart from the small sentence about wanting to re-experience the birth of a child. I love my child. I love every single hair on her head. Adore her. But the day she came out into the world was a traumatic, painful and terrifying day for me. I’m sure some people had a lovely (??) maybe tolerable experience, but I suppose it would be an intense memory for most. The day after, the smell of her, the feel of her sleeping on my chest that I would gladly re-experience. Anyway sorry for going off on a bit of a tangent!

The synopsis sounds AMAZING.

And have you looked at the book!

In my opinion the cover art is gorgeous, it is a standout design. I would certainly pick it up in a bookstore, would you?

Is Recursion on your wishlist? Have you read Dark Matter?

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss books that have yet to be released, the new and upcoming releases. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, originally hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine.

  1. Ha! Yes my eldest coming out was NOT a waterbirth with candles and soft music affair at all!! I had to have therapy to get over that momentous mess up by the midwives!!
    Sounds a good book though!
