Can’t wait Wednesday #AmWaiting #books #TheTestaments #TheHandmaidsTale @MargaretAtwood

This week I would like to feature…

The Testaments by Margaret Atwood due to be published on the 10th September 2019.

It is a sequel set 15 years in the future from the events that take place in The Handmaid’s Tale.

A sequel!

I first read The Handmaid’s tale years ago. And I mean years ago. I plan on re-reading it again soon or I should say I plan to listen to it as I recently bought the Audible audiobook version.

Like a number of people my interest was sparked in the book again by the fantastic TV series. It’s good isn’t it? It is a difficult watch at times but it is SO engrossing, I binge watched the whole first and second seasons after being late to the game. I can’t wait to sit down with season 3. Can’t wait!

The below quote by Margaret Atwood really caught my attention and interest. “The world we’ve been living in” what a scary thought but I can see why.

Book Blurb:

And so I step up, into the darkness within; or else the light.

When the van door slammed on Offred’s future at the end of The Handmaid’s Tale, readers had no way of telling what lay ahead.

With The Testamentsthe wait is over

Margaret Atwood’s sequel picks up the story 15 years after Offred stepped into the unknown, with the explosive testaments of three female narrators from Gilead.

I would have loved a more detailed synopsis, but it has done what it needed to do and made me want to read the book. In fact I can’t wait to read the book. I will be hitting that pre-order button.

And the cover! I love it. Simple, great choice of colours and I love that it took me a moment to see the second woman.

What do you think?

Are you eagerly awaiting The Testaments by Margaret Atwood?

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss books that have yet to be released, the new and upcoming releases. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, originally hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine.

  1. Ok, so confession time – I haven’t read the first book and I’m Canadian. I know – I should probably be deported for that! LOL I really want to though and I did buy the book last year. I want to read it, hopefully this year, and then watch the television show and get the sequel!

    1. It’s good – I still have to catch up with season 3 thou. I have also just recently re-read The Handmaid’s tale and I forgot how GOOD it was – I was hooked from page one.
