The #blogtour spot that wasn’t to be… The unmaking of Ellie Rook by Sandra Ireland @22_ireland @PolygonBooks

I jumped at the chance to be part of the #blogtour for The unmaking of Ellie Rook by Sandra Ireland – who could blame me, have you seen that cover? Or read the synopsis? It sounds like a great read, doesn’t it? And I love water covers.

But…

And it’s a big BUT – I didn’t receive my print copy. Kelly at Love Books Group Tours did email me over a PDF copy, but since I was waiting in hope and I didn’t hear back from anyone on whether my copy was on route or not I didn’t get the chance to read the book. I started reading the PDF on my laptop, but that isn’t my idea of relaxing with a good book.

It did start off good!

‘Tell me again, about Finella.’

‘I’ve told you a million times!’ my mother laughs, teasing me. We’re swinging hands in the dim, cool green of the woods. It’s a safe place for stories and secrets: the wind and the screaming gulls can’t snatch them away.

‘Once upon a time . . .’

I am on day 1 of the book tour and I very much hope other people have received the book and it was just my copy that went astray. Just a case of bad luck. I look forward to reading all the other reviews and content over the next week.

I have added the book to my Amazon wishlist and I will no doubt purchase it at some point in the future.

For now, have a look at the lovely cover and book blurb below.

Book blurb:

A single phone call from halfway across the world is all it takes to bring her home . . . ‘Ellie, something bad has happened.’

Desperate to escape her ‘kid from the scrapyard’ reputation, Ellie Rook has forged a new life for herself abroad, but tragedy strikes when her mother, Imelda, falls from a notorious waterfall. Here, according to local legend, the warrior queen Finella jumped to her death after killing a king. In the wake of her mother’s disappearance, Ellie is forced to confront some disturbing truths about the family she left behind and the woman she has become.

Can a long-dead queen hold the key to Ellie’s survival? And how far will she go to right a wrong?
