Book Blurb:
SHE WANTS HIM BACK. SHE WANTS YOU GONE.
Luke is the one. After everything she’s been through, Georgia knows she deserves someone like him, to make her feel loved. Safe.
The only problem is his ex-girlfriend. Luke says Cadence is having trouble accepting their break-up, but Georgia thinks there’s more to the story. She has the feeling someone is watching her.
So when everything starts to go wrong at work, at home, in her old friendships and her happy new relationship with Luke, Georgia starts to feel afraid.
It’s becoming clear Cadence wants what she has. But how far will she go to get it?
I loved it. And I was hooked from page one. HOOKED.
I ignored everything I should have been doing for a cup of tea, a few hours in my favourite armchair with a blanket and the dog just to find out where the story was going – ALWAYS the sign of a great read.
I am NOT going to attempt to summarise the plot for fear of SPOILERS, because there were lots of twists and turns as well as some very sinister behaviour. The Ex-Girlfriend was one jam-packed, tightly woven story! It featured…
Love.
Betrayal.
Revenge.
Drama.
Lots of drama. Crazy stalker drama. Family drama. Friend drama. Work drama. Love drama.
Under no circumstances would I trade my quiet life with Georgia. But, I loved Georgia as a character, she was tough and smart and when most people would have sat down and cried, she picked herself up and did something. Again, I can’t/won’t say more about my love for Georgia as a character because of potential SPOILERS! But I did love reading about her and her huge rather eclectic bunch of family and friends.
The book deals with some very serious themes of mental health struggles, self harm, depression and suicide, which I thought Nicola Moriarty handled sensitively.
I enjoyed Nicola Moriarty’s writing style and I thought she did a fantastic job at developing her characters. I also thought the pacing for the story was spot on. If I am being totally honest (and a bit nit-picky) I did think that a few of the twists and turns were maybe a little predictable, but it didn’t impact on my enjoyment. I am now a fan. A big fan.
I thought The Ex-girlfriend was a couldn’t put down, grab your full attention and absolute page turner of a domestic thriller. And one of the best thrillers I have read this year.
I think The Ex-girlfriend is the type of book that needs a – less is more review. So I am going to stop here and finish with – I recommend you READ the book.
I received a copy of The Ex-Girlfriend by Nicola Moriarty for the blog tour from the publisher – Thank you!

Great review! I’m always looking out for an addictive thriller, I’ll bear this one in mind 🙂

It definitely seems like everything worked well in this thriller. You are right that spending an afternoon to finish a book is a good sign that it’s worth it! Great review, Jules!
