Yet another book that has a fantastic cover design and a great blurb – I seem to be spoiled with books I can’t wait to read lately – long may it continue!

Totally over the top characters, a fairly predictable plot and a mountain of family drama – I couldn’t look away!

I found The Catch by T. M. Logan to be a very easy and very entertaining read. It took me about two days to get through the book, but I’m sure if I had been left alone and didn’t have the fun world of home-schooling and juggling other commitments I wouldn’t have put it down. It was exactly what I needed – a book that completely distracted me from the ongoing global pandemic.

I loved the characters, even if I didn’t like many of them. This wasn’t a book with in-depth great characterisation but instead, it was a binge worthy rollercoaster of a drama. The 2 main characters – Ed, the OVER protective Dad and Ryan the gorgeous and handsome yet not quite wholesome future son-in-law played their parts perfectly. T. M. Logan has the knack of writing characters that have a flair for the dramatic. I also loved Abbie (the daughter) although she wasn’t the strongest character and Claire (the mum) who attempted (but failed) to bring a bit of calm to a very crazy plot.

As I mentioned earlier – this was a totally over the top read but in a very good way – I am sure it would make the basis for a great TV series – I’m picturing Ben Badgley as Ryan.

But it wasn’t just the main characters I liked there was a lot of really good details – I feel like I learned something about how easy it is to pop a GPS tracker onto a car or get involved in some shady underground tracking.

The writing was good, the pacing suited the story and the last quarter of the book made for especially compulsive reading. It was an easy book to like and a lot of fun to read. And the ending although it was predictable in many respects, it suited the story and left me eagerly awaiting whatever T. M. Logan writes next. The Catch was a solid crime/thriller read and I would happily recommend it.
