First of all I would like to apologise for mixing up my dates! I was meant to post on the 8th, but I had written down the 10th in my diary – I have no idea where I went wrong!!! And I don’t even have home-schooling to blame anymore because it’s now officially the summer holidays up here in Scotland. But, it is still the very strangest of summers because almost all our plans have been cancelled or put on hold.

Anyway. Back to the rather wonderful book at hand – The girl from Widow Hills by Megan Miranda. I knew I wanted to read it as soon as I saw the cover design and read the synopsis…

The girl from Widow Hills by Megan Miranda was a GREAT read. I really liked it. It was a slow burn, slow reveal, and a character driven story that grabbed my attention right from page 1. I didn’t want to put it down!

I’m not going to say much about the plot because – I’ve tried, and I can’t make it make sense without spoilers. I also think the blurb above does a fantastic job at teasing out just enough information to make you want to read it. I would like to say that I didn’t guess all the twists and turns that kept on coming in slow, but oh so interesting strides and I never quite guessed where Liv’s story was taking me. It was good. VERY GOOD. It was a solid read that didn’t disappoint and kept me entertained throughout.

The girl from Widow Hills was well written, well-paced and I loved the structure. I loved the small extracts from past interviews that shed more light on Liv’s quite tragic past as the mystery and rather sinister story unfolded in the present day. It was clever. It was smart and my only complaint was that I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

I will be recommending The girl from Widow Hills by Megan Miranda to everyone and anyone who listens to me. I love a good psychological thriller and this one was spot on for me.
