I think I own ALL the books that Emma Curtis has written to date but I haven’t gotten round to reading any. MISTAKE! So when I got the blog tour invite for Keep her quiet I jumped at the chance and suddenly realised how big a MISTAKE it wasn’t picking up one of her books sooner.
I…loved… isn’t quite the right word, but I was utterly hooked by Keep her quiet. I still have the last 10% to read but I am sure it will be getting the full 5* from me.
If you’ve been reading some of my other blog post I have probably moaned far too often that August seems to be a difficult, tiring and not a reading friendly month. I’ve struggled to get me time and I’ve struggled to read as much as I want – I started Keep it quiet and I was almost 25% in before I looked up… I needed a book to pull me out of my reading slump and this did just that! THANK YOU Emma Curtis.

Intense sounding synopsis, right!?!
The writing was great, the characters were all flawed – and deranged – and I felt a whole host of emotions along with Hannah and Jenny as they both lived through different yet just as horrific versions of a mothers worst nightmare. The synopsis does a good job at warning readers – this was a book filled with difficult themes – sudden infant death syndrome and kidnapping. It was emotional.
In particular, the first part of the book was intense and the pacing added a sense of urgency to the story that made me want to turn the pages as quickly as I could. I wanted to follow Hannah and Jenny, I despised Leo.
I couldn’t look away but at the same time I felt I should be reading the pages peeking through my fingers. It was not a horror novel but Emma Curtis gave me chills.
